Make Your Trolling Motor Snag-Free

When you're fly fishing it's important to keep the deck of your boat as snag-free as possible. This can be a problem if you have a bow mounted trolling motor. You can be assured that some part of that motor is going to grab that flyline when you're casting at a school of Tarpon or a tailing Redfish.

An easy way to solve this problem is by draping a wet beach towel over your trolling motor. A beach towel is usually big enough to cover the entire trolling motor, bracket, plug, and all. And the added weight from the water will keep the towel were you want it even on the windiest of days. This should give you a nice smooth snag-free surface, which will make fly fishing much more enjoyable.
