Fly Casting
Instead of fly casting straight over head or on a slight angle, like all the books teach try casting more side arm. You want your fly line to travel just above the horizon, this will do three things for you. First, this allows you to see your fly line throughout the cast. This will help, improve your timing and rhythm, and allow you to throw a tighter loop. Second, the wind will not effect your cast as much, because the fly line is traveling at a lower altitude. And third, since the line is traveling at a lower altitude, you lessen your chances of spooking the fish you're casting at, because the fly is going to hit the water softer. Tip courtesy of Capt.
