Locating Redfish Flats

Part of the fun of fishing is find productive spots that you can call your own. Here's a few characteristics you should look for when trying to discover your own Redfish flat.

Look for flats with potholes, sand pockets, or flat rocks on them. These are feeding stations and Redfish love to hang out on the edge of these areas and ambush bait.

Locate a flat with channels running through it, these are Redfish highways. On a falling tide, Redfish need a place to go and channels are ideal. And, on a rising tide this is usually the first place you'll be able to find them.

Tailing Redfish love grass flats that get exposed on low tide. Crabs, shrimp, and bait fish get stranded on the dry flats and die. When the tide floods, Redfish will invade the flat and devour these dead morsels. Try to locate a few areas like these, you never know, you may find your own honey hole.
